Everyone is busy tackling the challenge of securing tomorrow’s vehicles from outside threats. But what is the true state of cybersecurity in the automotive industry, and which are the true driving factors for investment and development? Important questions investigate our understanding of threats, competence and knowledge-gaps, responsibility splits between suppliers and OEMs, legislation, and economic vs. human safety considerations. Results from the SAE/Synopsys security survey have been published and they answer some of the same questions identified by the GENIVI Security Team. However the GENIVI security team thinks the SAE survey might be extended with additional questions. The intention is to start, and continue, the conversations that are necessary in our industry to address perhaps the greatest challenge of all in future road transportation. Past, present and future Security team participants meet with and any other interested AMM participants to discuss about topics covered in earlier presentations, and to plan future activity.
