This breakout session will provide a general overview of human trafficking, with a focus on the growing exploitation of minors for commercial sex, including who is at risk, who the perpetrators are, how minors are recruited, where trafficking occurs and how to protect yourself and/or the minors in your sphere of influence. 1. Define human trafficking and differentiate between labor vs sex trafficking. 2. Identify risk factors that make youth vulnerable. 3. Gain an understanding of who the perpetrators are and some of their recruiting techniques. 4. Recognize the role pornography plays. 5. Discuss some of the ways to protect yourself and/or others. 6. List some of the actions to take if you suspect someone is being trafficked.
