This session will teach you the skills and the reasons children with trauma respond differently than children with no trauma. You will feel like you are not alone in the challenges and rewards that come with helping children gain trauma resiliency. Today, 100% of our world has experienced some form of trauma after the COVID pandemic, while this session will focus on all aspects of trauma, we are now living in a world with higher trauma exposure, and with that comes different ways of parenting and teaching these children. This section will model how a child will react and the different ways to respond at that moment. It will teach the history of trauma-informed parenting/ teaching and how to avoid the power struggles we often get into. It will also give tips on caring for yourself when working with a trauma-exposed child. In addition, it will take a snapshot of the behavior through the child's lens. You will take away tips and tools to work with youth and will walk away with empowerment. Participants will be allowed to work through scenarios in small groups and work collectively on seeking solutions to best meet the proposed challenges. Participants will gain a personal perspective on responses to trauma by hearing testimonials from persons experiencing simulated environmental impacts.
