Be Better Than Average
The primary objective for this presentation is that attendees will have a better understanding of how everyday life of the American young Black male has undercurrents of acute, chronic, environmental and generational trauma and normal trauma response/coping mechanisms can be perceived as negative and anti-socal behaviors by educators, law enforcement,/ criminal justice professionals and others. The secondary objective is for the participants to brainstorm & discuss strategies to redress this toxic paradigm including culturally competent trauma informed practices they can use in their interactions with Black male students, patients, clients, etc.
