How can we bring undocumented youth out of the shadows? What immigration relief exists for undocumented children? What realities do they face? Paulina Cook from RMIAN will provide training on immigration relief for undocumented youth and the realities and risk they face. RMIAN’s Social Workers will also be discussing indirect trauma, its causes, symptoms, and how to cope. Each year over 10 million children in the US endure abuse, violence, and other adverse events. This can lead to significant emotional and behavioral problems. It is important to be aware of indirect trauma and the necessary tools to protect our health. Participants will be able to better recognize possible immigration relief options for the undocumented youth they encounter. They will also be able to better understand the adversities undocumented youth face and be in a better position to advise and help them. Additionally participants will be better able to recognize the symptoms of vicarious trauma and have steps in place to better cope.
