In this presentation the speaker will introduce the concept of using cannabis and hemp extracts and cannabinoids as novel ingredients in food.
Speaker will review the types of extracts that can be produced from a Cannabis sativa L. plant and their uses in consumer and non-consumer product manufacturing.
Additionally he will review some ideas for GMP considerations based on the intended use of the product, i.e. is it a food or dietary supplement or prescription drug. A general overview of the manufacturing process for producing raw and processed extracts, APIs, concentrates, and other cannabinoid-based novel food ingredients will be discussed. Speaker will conclude by emphasizing the occupational, public, and environmental health and safety considerations that should be made when producing cannabinoid-based novel ingredients – And when using these in consumer products, such as foods.
