Second-guessing solventless? Dive into the benefits, downfalls and misconceptions of the booming solventless extraction trend with a panel of quality assurance and product safety experts. Consumers are buying into the surge of solventless products under the assumption that they are ‘cleaner’ when in fact there’s no current benchmarking specification for which Rosin is fully considered ‘safe.’ Until we've defined the full characteristics of the product, there’s nothing preventing someone from claiming a product is Rosin even if it’s not 100% solventless. The lack of product specifications becomes an issue when brands throw in a mix of 2.5% THC-isolate, or 0.3% of botanically derived terpenes. At this point, it's not a matter of IF, but WHEN this will become a court case that falls apart simply because there is no established specification. Finer details such as how to properly purge and clean a gas cylinder for "cannabis" grade extraction solvent use have yet to be determined, and brands are using medical grade CO2 without knowing that it’s of LOWER purity than food grade CO2. These are only a few examples of points this panel will cover to help both small and large producers improve the overall safety of their solventless products as the industry develops proper specifications.
