11 Agentic AI 101 for Banking Leaders
Artificial intelligence is quickly moving beyond tools that simply respond to prompts. A new category, known as agentic AI, is emerging—systems that can take initiative, coordinate tasks, make decisions within guardrails, and act on behalf of an organization. For banks and credit unions, this shift represents both opportunity and responsibility. This session is designed to demystify agentic AI for financial services leaders without relying on technical jargon. We will focus on what agentic AI actually is, how it differs from traditional automation and generative AI, and where it can be applied safely and responsibly within regulated environments. Rather than framing AI as a distant future or a risky experiment, this discussion grounds agentic AI in familiar banking workflows—payments operations, fraud response, compliance monitoring, customer service, and internal decision support. Attendees will leave with a practical mental model for evaluating where agentic AI adds value, where it does not belong, and how leadership teams should be thinking about governance before deployment. This is not a session about replacing people. It is a session about designing intelligent systems that support people, scale expertise, and reduce operational friction—without compromising trust, transparency, or control.
