Dr. Gina Sandí-Díaz is an Assistant Professor of Theatre at California State University, Fresno, where she specializes in Latinx theatre, devised theatre, acting and directing. Her most recent credits with the University Theatre include directing The Agony of Ecstasy by Sabina Berman, Anon(ymous) by Naomy Iizuka, Lydia by Octavio Solis and Just Like Us by Karen Zacarias.
Dr. Sandí-Díaz also specializes in applied theatre, conducting artistic projects in communities to tackle social problem and promote civic engagement. She currently runs the ArteVism Fellowship in California’s Central Valley in collaboration with the Pan Valley Institute. Currently, she is also the Representation, Equity and Diversity Vice-Chair for the Kennedy Center’s American College Theatre Festival. Dr. Sandí-Díaz earned a Ph.D. (2017) and an M.A (2007) in Theatre from the University of Kansas, and a B.A in Performing Arts from the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica (2005). Her areas of interest are Latinx and Latin American Theatre and Performance, Theatre for Social Change and Applied Theatre.
