Dr. Gary Gao is a professor and small fruit specialist with The Ohio State University and has been working there for nearly 30 years. He received his Ph.D. and M.S. from OSU. Dr. Gao worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Purdue University and The Ohio State University. He conducts applied research and delivers extension programs on Aronia, blackberries, blueberries, elderberries, currants, gooseberries, grapes, hardy figs, hardy kiwis, honeyberries, and raspberries. Dr. Gao has authored or co-author 18 OSU Extension Factsheets, 36 peer reviewed journal articles and 28 trade magazine articles. He is also the editor and co-author of the award-winning “Midwest Home Fruit Production Guide,” and a co-author of “Midwest Blueberry Production Guide.” Dr. Gao is a columnist for the American Fruit Grower Magazine.
