Margo Murray is President & Chief Operating Officer of MMHA The Managers’ Mentors, Inc., an international consulting firm, specializing in MMHA Facilitated Mentoring Model and Processes© and total Quality Productivity Performance Systems implementation. Margo has a unique combination of experience in line and staff management, academic work in business and behavioral sciences, and experience in structuring and managing human performance systems. Her innovations include a criterion-referenced approach to manager skill development and creation of a facilitated mentoring process. Her best seller book, Beyond the Myths and Magic of Mentoring: How to Facilitate an Effective Mentoring Process, includes thirty years of research and client experiences with her Facilitated Mentoring Model©. Margo’s custom designed programs and published articles have won professional awards and White House Recognition for Excellence, and been translated into Swedish, Spanish, French, Japanese, Korean, and Arabic.
Margo and MMHA were recognized with two Athena Awards for Excellence in Mentoring. Margo was invited to speak about global mentoring experiences to the United Nations Secretariat. She met with former First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton who expressed interest in Margo’s work with Welfare Reform and youth mentoring projects. Margo has been interviewed for many business media broadcasts and publications including Edwin Newman’s Executive Forum, Marshall Loeb of Fortune Magazine, and Bill Klauber, host for Insurance Broadcast Systems. IEEE rated Margo Outstanding Contributor to the Conference 2000. Recent international work and keynote speeches include Argentina, Canada, Cyprus, England, Ethiopia, France, Germany, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, and South Africa.
Margo’s management and consulting skills were honed in line and staff management jobs with Pacific Telephone, and information technology supervision and budget officer positions with the U. S. Government.
Margo earned a B.S. degree, With Honors, at Sacramento State College, MBA at John F. Kennedy University and was elected to membership in Beta Gamma Sigma, National Honor Society in Business. CSUS School of Business awarded Margo 1998 Alum of the Year, and CSUS Alumni Association the Distinguished Service Award. Margo was a Founding Member of McLaren College of Business Advisory Council, University of San Francisco, 1988. John F. Kennedy University Board of Regents elected her to the Board of Regents 1990. She is listed in many editions of Notable Americans, the World Who’s Who of Women, and Who’s Who of American Women.
Margo’s many volunteer leadership roles include Director, International Mentoring Association; Director, The Mentoring Center - Oakland; two Vice Presidencies of International Training in Communication; President, International Society for Performance Improvement, ISPI Outstanding National Member, and Member for Life; Chair, Executive Board, International Federation of Training and Development Organisations. In 1998 IFTDO awarded her Honorary Member, only the third ever granted.
Margo Murray was the very first recipient of the Emotional Intelligence Personal Excellence Award in 2007.
