Steve Mazzoccone is currently a Lecturer of Theatre in the areas of Acting and Directing at the State University of New York at Oswego. He is also a freelance theatre director and actor with many years of professional experience. From Schenectady, NY, he earned a BA majoring in both Theatre and English Literature from SUNY Oswego; and in 2016, he received his MFA in Performing Arts from the Savannah College of Art and Design. In addition to institutional study, he's also trained directly with TONYⓇ Award winning theatre directors Sharon Ott and Daniel Sullivan, Anne Bogart, and Moisés Kaufman. He's worked alongside Broadway actors including Elena Shaddow, Karen Ziemba, Alison Fraser, Tom Hewitt, Shannon Lewis, Kimberly Immanuel, and many more. Some of the places he's helped create work include the Signature Theatre, Manhattan Theatre Club, The Vineyard Theater, Tectonic Theater Project, Gingold Theatrical Group, 13th Street Theatre, American Theatre of Actors, The Secret Theatre, Urban Stages, The West End Theatre and Gallery Players. He's worked for national touring theaters (National Theatre for Arts and Education, American Family Theatre) and at regional theaters (Connecticut Free Shakespeare, Valley Shakespeare Festival, Savannah Shakes, Cohoes Musical Hall, La Comedia Dinner Theatre). For the last two summers, Steve was part of the teaching faculty at the celebrated Powerhouse Theatre at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. Steve has taught Speech at Dutchess County Community College, and at various studios in NYC in disciplines such as Movement for the Actor, Acting, and Audition Coaching. He also taught theatre at Long Island University as an Artist in Residence, and at the West Side YMCA in New York City.
