SHARON EBERSON (she/her) Sharon Eberson’s career as an award-winning journalist and theater critic began as a New York sports writer, before she moved to Pittsburgh in 1980 to become the first woman in sports at the Post-Gazette newspaper. In 1992, she moved to Features, where for the next 28 years her jobs included Sunday Magazine and Arts & Entertainment Editor. She left in 2020 as the PG’s culture writer and theater critic. In 2021, Sharon co-founded the website onStage Pittsburgh that focuses on hyper-local live performing arts. The all-volunteer site averages more than 8,000 monthly page visits, with highs of more than 16,000, and has been welcomed into the Pittsburgh Media Partnership. As a freelancer, her stories have been published most recently in Pittsburgh Magazine and American Theatre Magazine. City and statewide awards include the Pittsburgh Black Media Federation's Vann Media Award and second in the inaugural Keystone Awards' Diversity category. She also produces Off the Record, an annual original musical satire that in 24 years has raised more than $800,000 for Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and other charities.
