Elizabeth Alman (ealman@gmu.edu) is the Head of Theatre Studies and an Associate Professor of Theater at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA where she teaches courses in Acting, Shakespeare, Dialects and Theater History. She is the Founder and CEO of SPIEL, a consulting company specializing in EXECUTIVE PRESENCE and LEADERSHIP COMMUNICATION. Elizabeth is a Voice, Speech, Text and Dialect Coach with over 20 years of coaching experience in professional theatres in the DC/Baltimore area. She also coaches actors privately in acting, auditioning, heightened text, character development and dialects. She is a Shakespeare’s Globe (London) Fellow, a Cosmos Scholar and an Associate Teacher of Fitzmaurice VoiceWork®. She is a member of the Voice and Speech Trainers of America (VASTA) and Actors Equity Association (AEA) and holds a PhD in Theater and Performance Studies from the University of Maryland, an MFA from the Alabama Shakespeare Festival/University of Alabama Professional Actor Training Program, and a BA in Theatre from Illinois State University.
