John Hutagaol is Director of International Taxation in the Indonesian Directorate General of Taxes. Previously, he was Director of Tax Regulations II and Head of the Foreign Direct Investment One Tax Office. He has experience in various taxation areas, including delegation duties in many tax treaty negotiations. He was a conceptor of taxpayers mapping, profiling and benchmarking in Indonesia, and had an important role in the drafting of the current Indonesian Income Tax Law. He is often invited as a panelist or resource person in discussions on international taxation.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Economics majoring in accounting from Brawijaya University in Malang. He finished his graduate study in the University of Macquarie in Sydney and his doctoral program in the University of Padjadjaran in Bandung. Prof. Dr. Hutagaol received his professor title from ABFI Institute Perbanas in Jakarta in 2008.
