Dr. Christina Aggar is Associate Professor Nursing at Southern Cross University and Conjoint Research Academic with the Northern NSW Local Health District. Christina’s research interests include aged care nursing, family caregiving and workforce development. She has extensive experience in interdisciplinary research, supporting healthcare professionals in conducting research, and translating research into practice. Dr. Aggar has a national and international research profile, with over 60 peer-reviewed articles, government submissions, and reports. She is involved in community engagement through various committees and is a guest reviewer for several international journals.
Dr. Aggar has held academic research roles at several Australian universities with successful experience in supervising higher degree research students. She has developed and reviewed curricula for undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including the first Australian Primary Health Care Transition program for new graduate nurses, the Community Health Care Transition program for new graduate nurses, Masters Primary Health Care program, and Australia’s first postgraduate program for internationally qualified nurses seeking Australian registration. A key to the success of the education programs is the integration of innovative technology to support learning and collaborative professional relationships. Dr. Aggar won a 2020 Australian Academy of Science Fellowship to further develop her international network with industry partners in India to improve clinicians’ interprofessional healthcare leadership skills, using innovative technologies.
