Sessions
Plenary 4 - From Health to Planetary Health
1:30 PM - 3:00 PM Thu
After 10 years as an Occupational Therapist in regional South Australia, working across community mental health, aged care and disability services, Lisa was drawn into local politics, grass roots campaigning, managing change and ultimately into exploring ‘up-stream’ solutions to big social, economic and environmental problems. Lisa now works as a Senior Project Officer at The Next Economy, a not-for-profit organisation that supports regional communities harness the opportunities and manage the challenges of major economic change, such as decarbonisation, industry closures, or preparing for the impacts of climate change on agriculture. This work involves building community capacity to understand the economic, social, cultural, political and environmental context, and supports communities to navigate the options and find their own pathway towards an economy that serves people and planet- ‘a wellbeing economy’. Lisa loves this work, but also loves op-shopping and upcycling fashion, renovating old furniture and cosying up on the couch with her young family.
