Amy Orta Rivera holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Geography from the University of Puerto Rico (Río Piedras Campus) and a master’s degree in Environmental Law and Policy from Vermont Law & Graduate School. Her career is driven by the conviction that environmental issues cannot be separated from social equity.
She currently works as an Advocacy Consultant at the Resiliency Law Center, where she fosters civic engagement processes that place directly affected communities at the heart of public policy discussions. In this role, she advocates for environmental justice to guide the development of solutions that not only protect the environment but also address historical inequalities and ensure a fair distribution of environmental benefits and burdens.
Her goal is to support communities, groups, and organizations in advocating for the formulation and oversight of environmental public policies by co-designing advocacy strategies that strengthen environmental justice and ensure a more equitable and sustainable future.
