Nick Petro is the Warning Coordination Meteorologist at the National Weather Service (NWS) Forecast Office in Raleigh, NC. Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Nick attended Penn State University and received a degree in Meteorology in May 1997. Nick has been with the NWS since February 1999, and has worked at the Newport, NC, Tampa, FL, Flagstaff, AZ, and now the Raleigh, NC forecast offices. As the Warning Coordination Meteorologist, Nick serves as the principal interface between the Raleigh forecast office and the users of its products and services. Nick is also responsible for carrying out an awareness program designed to educate the public about severe weather hazards and preparedness for the protection of life and property.
