Jonathan Wilson is a graduate of Carver High School and Appalachian State University. Jonathan has a B.S. in Criminal Justice and began his career in 1992 as a N.C. Parole Officer in Forsyth County. Wilson was promoted to High-Risk Officer in 1996, Intensive Officer in 1998, and Chief Probation Officer in 2006. In 2014 he was appointed as Judicial District Manager and managed operations in Forsyth County before taking over in Davidson, Davie, Alexander, and Iredell County in 2015. After serving nearly 24 years with NC Department of Public Safety, Jonathan joined the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools in 2016 as the district’s first Director of Security. Jonathan served briefly as Executive Director of Security before being appointed as Chief Officer of Safety, Security, and Emergency Management in 2021. Jonathan has worked as a partner and liaison between the courts, law enforcement, and many other agencies in Forsyth County and the surrounding area. Through the course of his career, he has had the opportunity to: • Develop and implement policy, procedures, and manage fiscal matters. • Promote public relations efforts. • Study human behavior in the management of employees and supervision of criminal offenders. • Conduct countless interviews, investigations, and audits. • Testify in criminal/civil hearings and before elected officials. • Manage crisis situations and plan special operations. • Collaborate with agencies at the local, state, and federal level. • Develop and implement comprehensive security and critical incident response plans for N.C.’s fourth largest school district. • Create and manage a strong team of safety, security, and emergency management professionals.
