Heather McCarthy, PT, DPT
Sessions
3 - 5 pm: Pathways in Practice: Navigating Your First Years as a PT - Panel Discussion
3:00 PM - 5:00 PM Fri
Heather addresses a broad spectrum of orthopedic, neurological, and pediatric conditions. These include vertigo and vestibular rehabilitation, stroke recovery, gait and balance training, global developmental delay, and Parkinson’s Disease. She holds LSVT BIG certification, specializing in Parkinson’s Disease treatment. Her passion lies in getting to know her patients personally. She aims to understand their daily functional goals to devise a treatment plan that truly impacts their lives. Heather listens intently to her patients, treating them holistically rather than just addressing their medical diagnosis. She leverages the creative aspects of physical therapy, choosing or inventing exercises that her patients will find enjoyable and that support their objectives. Beyond her clinical work, Heather is dedicated to education and contributing to her field by regularly mentoring students through internships. Additionally, she conducts a weekly group exercise class for the Wisconsin Rapids community members affected by Parkinson’s Disease. In her leisure time, Heather enjoys running and gardening. Together with her husband and their two children, they are often seen exploring the local playgrounds in the area.
