Join Mentafy's workshop at ECEIA 2025 to explore innovative strategies for upholding academic integrity in the era of generative AI. AI detection tools of the first generation generally fall short, leading to false positives, failing to capture the nuances of AI-assisted writing and ultimately never really offer true evidence but act as a black box. This session introduces a process-oriented approach, emphasizing the documentation and analysis of the writing process to enhance transparency and accountability. Further, participants will engage in interactive discussions to develop a method to quanti- and qualify AI usage in academic writing. The workshop will delve into the Artificial Intelligence Assessment Scale (AIAS), a tool designed to assess the extent and nature of AI usage in student work, distinguishing between acceptable assistance and academic misconduct.
