Juan Saca is the President and Chief Executive Officer of LUMA, a company with over 4,000 employees dedicated to providing reliable electrical service to 1.5 million customers in Puerto Rico. From 2012 to 2019, he served as the CEO of Open Mobile and later PR Wireless in Puerto Rico. He played a key role in the telecommunications industry’s recovery efforts after Hurricane María in 2017, including Saca’s leadership in advocating for the recognition of telecommunications as an essential service. Juan has held several executive roles throughout his career, working in countries such as Perú, Chile, Mexico, Israel, the United States, and Puerto Rico. This has allowed him to broaden his knowledge across different industries and cultures. His professional experience spans various sectors, including telecommunications, manufacturing, data centers, and energy. As CEO of LUMA, Juan Saca is committed to the company’s mission to transform Puerto Rico’s transmission and distribution system, aiming to deliver more reliable, resilient, clean, and affordable electricity. Under his leadership, LUMA has progressed by advancing capital improvement projects, including historic initiatives like smart meters, vegetation management, and installing automated devices. These projects, funded by FEMA at an estimated cost of at least $16 billion, are set to transform the island’s electrical system. Saca has also supported various social and philanthropic causes throughout his career. He has established strategic partnerships with nonprofit organizations to educate the public about the electrical system and its associated risks.
