Rob Stewart currently serves as Senior Vice Provost of Texas Tech University with oversight responsibilities for areas in support of academic programs, faculty advancement, and student matriculation. He previously served for 11 years as an associate dean in the College of Arts and Sciences. He is a Professor in the Department of Communication Studies where he began as a new assistant professor at Texas Tech in 1984. He was chair of the Communication Studies department for three years before entering the dean’s office. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in interpersonal communication, public speaking, communication theory, and communication research methods.
He has published over two-dozen research articles in the areas of instructional communication, interpersonal communication, and communication and religion, and is co-author of three textbooks, including A Speaker’s Guidebook, one of the more popular collegiate public speaking textbooks in the country. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Communication from Lubbock Christian College, the Master of Arts degree in Speech Communication from Texas Tech, and the doctorate in Speech Communication and Educational Psychology from West Virginia University.
