Climbing the Food Chain
1:30 PM - 2:45 PM Wed
Steve worked in public-safety communications centers as a Dispatcher, Supervisor and Director in four different organizations for over 25 years, 20 of them in a leadership role. Early in his career, Steve was a Firefighter/Paramedic and a Deputy Sheriff, which gave him perspective from “both sides of the radio” in all three disciplines served by ECCs. He also facilitated the RiverCom consolidation and the integration of Franklin County 9-1-1 into SECOMM in the Tri-Cities.
Before recently re-retiring (again) Steve was the Executive Director of Spokane Regional Emergency Communications, where he facilitated another consolidation effort. Prior to that, he led three independent, multi-jurisdictional, consolidated ECCs; Deschutes 9-1-1 in Bend, Oregon, ValleyCom in Kent; and KITTCOM in Kittitas County.
People who have worked with Steve will confirm his passion for the role ECCs have in making communities safer and better places to live.
Steve’s formal education includes an Associate degree in Law Enforcement, a Bachelors degree in Paramedical Health Services and a Master’s degree in Public Administration.
