Travis Nichols serves as the Cyber Operations Branch Chief for the California Cybersecurity Integration Center (Cal-CSIC) within the California Office of Emergency Services (CalOES), where he leads statewide cyber operations across both proactive and incident response mission sets. In this role, he oversees the Cyber Advisory Team (CAT) and Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR) functions, supporting state, local, tribal, and territorial partners in reducing risk, strengthening resilience, and responding to active cyber threats.
Travis brings a mission-focused approach to cybersecurity, with experience spanning cyber operations, threat-informed risk assessment, and large-scale coordination across government and partner organizations. He has led the development of repeatable cybersecurity assessment programs, operational workflows, and workforce development initiatives aligned to national frameworks. In addition to his civilian role, Travis serves as a Chief Warrant Officer 2 (CWO2) in the United States Marine Corps Reserves as a 1720 Cyber Weapons Officer, where he contributes to Defensive Cyberspace Operations and joint cyber mission support.
Travis also serves as Chair of the California Cybersecurity Task Force (CCTF) Election Security Subcommittee, supporting statewide efforts to protect election infrastructure through collaboration, training, and strategic coordination.
