Tristian Cormier serves as Chief Information Officer for San Joaquin County, where he leads enterprise technology strategy, cybersecurity, and digital modernization initiatives that support critical public services and strengthen trust in government. He oversees a large, countywide technology portfolio, aligning infrastructure, governance, and security to ensure resilient, reliable, and citizen-focused service delivery. With more than 20 years of public-sector technology leadership, Tristian previously served as Chief Information Officer for the California Secretary of State, where he guided statewide modernization efforts supporting election infrastructure, digital public access, and secure information systems. His career also includes executive leadership roles as Chief Technology Officer and Chief Information Security Officer, as well as serving as the founding CIO for the California Office of Tax Appeals, where he built the agency’s technology environment from the ground up. Widely regarded as a next-generation CIO and a trusted voice in public-sector technology leadership, Tristian is the founder of the Trusted CIO™ Framework, a model centered on governance, ethical innovation, and people-first leadership. He also serves as a California Governor for the Global Council on Responsible AI, contributing to national and global conversations on cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and the future of critical infrastructure.
