Welcome by the Presidents
8:00 AM - 8:50 AM Fri
Sarah Larmore, LCSW, serves as President of the Utah Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and Director of Psychological Health for the Utah Army National Guard. Her professional work brings together clinical practice, military behavioral health, leadership, professional advocacy, and systems-level policy.
As NASW Utah President, Sarah advocates for the social work profession and for policies that strengthen behavioral health systems, support the behavioral health workforce, and improve outcomes for individuals, families, and communities. She brings a particular interest in the places where clinical practice, professional ethics, public policy, and organizational systems intersect.
In her role with the Utah Army National Guard, Sarah works at the intersection of behavioral health and military readiness, supporting service members while also working with leaders and community partners to strengthen prevention, intervention, and access to care. She also serves as Chair of the National Guard Bureau’s Behavioral Health Working Group and participates in Utah’s Governor’s Challenge efforts focused on reducing suicide among service members, veterans, and their families.
Sarah believes some of the most meaningful progress in behavioral health happens when professionals move beyond disciplinary silos and bring their different perspectives together. Her approach is grounded in the belief that effective mental health care requires not only skilled clinicians, but also strong systems, thoughtful leadership, collaboration, and a willingness to look honestly at the barriers that affect both providers and the people they serve.
She is especially passionate about helping behavioral health professionals understand the broader systems in which they practice while ensuring that policy and organizational decisions remain connected to the realities of clinical practice and the lived experiences of those seeking care.
