Lisa began fighting for educational equity over twenty years ago as a middle school science teacher at a Children's Aid Community School in the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York City. That experience strongly influenced the vision of the school she co-founded in the same community and led as its middle school principal. Expanding her vantage point to the wide array of educational settings across the nation's largest school district, as a Senior Managing Director of Programs at Teach For America she worked at a systems level to build partnerships, support schools, and grow teacher leaders. Now as the Deputy Director of the National Center for Community Schools, Lisa comes full circle back to Community Schools work to share her ever-growing passion and perspective in pursuit of creating and sustaining community schools across our country.
