Chuanika is an accomplished, highly collaborative educator with over 23 years of delivering successful outcomes in student achievement and leading change. She is adept at transforming school organizations, building teams, developing effective partnerships, and coaching school leaders.
Chuanika is a collaborative practitioner and strategic thinker who leverages her experience to build strong teams to solve complex challenges. She supports school leaders with designing systems to transform their organizations. Chuanika exhibits expertise in leading change and building capacity. Her unwavering commitment to improving the academic performance of all students by educating the whole child has allowed her to turn around low-performing schools.
During her tenure in the William Penn School District, Chuanika facilitated the reconfiguration of the secondary school model. This reform initiative supported the improvement of teaching and learning and led to improved outcomes in student achievement. Chuanika also worked with senior officials to restructure the district’s professional development plan to build capacity by training teacher leaders.
During her leadership in Philadelphia, Chuanika led a neighborhood elementary school to become one of Mayor Kenny’s first Community Schools. The partnership between the City of Philadelphia and the School District of Philadelphia serves to remove barriers to learning by supporting the success of each student. Chuanika supported Mayor Kenny in carrying out his goal of ensuring that every student graduates college, career, and community ready. Chuanika also worked with the Philadelphia Office of Children and Families to help build healthy, safe, hopeful, and supportive communities for students.
Chuanika currently serves as a Leadership Coach for principals and school leaders in the School District of Philadelphia. She is passionate about supporting leaders and helping them maximize their full leadership potential through transformative coaching. She collaborates with senior district leadership, school-level administrators, and outside organizations to facilitate professional development, coordinate programs, resolve complex problems, and provide follow-up support. Chuanika is a senior fellow in the Neubauer Fellowship of the Philadelphia Academy of School Leaders, an esteemed leadership development program established by the Neubauer Foundation.
Chuanika has developed and sustained credibility by leading with compassion and adopting a student-centered approach. She is known for collaborating across departments within school districts and for building partnerships with various organizations. Chuanika is driven by the work of empowering leaders and building teams to transform organizations. She articulates a vision of equity for all students and champions the professional development of all educators. Chuanika’s thoughtful and creative approach to leading change and inspiring leaders makes her an asset and valued leader in Philadelphia.
