Nuchette Black-Burke, M. Ed is an innovative collaborator in family and community engagement with over 10 years of experience in education coordination and non-profit program administration. Mrs. Black-Burke has extensive communication and relationship-building experience across diverse sectors ranging from youth development and young adult support to community, civic, educational and political contributions. She is known as a workshop facilitator, board member, advocate, public speaker, minister, and grant program manager, to name a few. Mrs. Black-Burke is heavily involved in the local educational affairs of her community in Windsor, CT. She was elected to the Windsor Board of Education and played a vital role on the Windsor Board of Education serving as the chair of the curriculum and technology committees. While on the Windsor Board of Education, she served as the delegate to Capital Region Education Council (CREC).
Mrs. Black-Burke was appointed to the Windsor Town Council in October 2018 and in November 2019 after a grueling campaign she was elected to the Windsor Town Council. She is a proud member of the Hartford Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. In addition, she is a member of the 100 Women of Color Class of 2017, honored by the Cricket Hall of Fame for her leadership and contributions to the community. She received a Bridge Builders Award from the Town of Windsor Human Relations Commission for her contributions to the Windsor community. In 2020, she received the Community Service Award from Urban League- Greater Hartford and was recognized in 2021 by the town of Windsor as being one of its Phenomenal Women. In 2020, she completed Leadership Greater Hartford's QUEST Leadership program and is a recent graduate of EMERGE Connecticut.
She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Western Connecticut State University, a Masters in Education from the University of Hartford, and a certificate in family engagement from Harvard University. Mrs. Black-Burke is currently employed by Hartford Public Schools as the Chief of Family and Community Partnerships. While she wears many hats, has many roles and is well-respected throughout her community; her most important roles are being a wife to her husband of eighteen years and a mother to her two sons.
