Before entering the car wash industry, American baritone Mel Ulrich enjoyed a twenty-year international career as a coveted opera singer. He has sung over five hundred performances in many of the world's leading opera houses including The Metropolitan Opera. In 2004, Mr. Ulrich also received a GRAMMY Award Nomination for the recording of Ed Thomas's Desire Under the Elms, which he recorded for the Naxos label. Ulrich moved from New York City to Graham, TX, giving up singing and picking up the pipe wrenches as a service tech for Turtle Hole Partners to be home with his family. This eventually led to a position as Vice President of Stroud Asset Management, Inc. where he garnished his skills in business management, HR and accounting, under the leadership of his father-in-law, Douglas Stroud, to whom he is very grateful. In 2011, he founded The Washhouse, which has since grown into a multi-site conglomerate of In-Bays, Self-Serve, Express and Flex Tunnels. He lives in Weatherford, Texas with his wife and two children.
