Joe Mizzi is a Maltese politician who has been a Member of Parliament since 1987. He was first elected a member of the Maltese Parliament representing the Malta Labour Party for the Second Electoral District in May 1987 and subsequently, re-elected a Member of Parliament in 1992, 1996, 1998, 2003, 2008, 2013 and in 2017 General Elections.
From 1989 till 2013 he served as the Party Whip and from 1998 till 2013 he also served as the Shadow Minister for Environmental Planning, Oil Exploration and Infrastructural Services.
From October 1996 to September 1998 he served as Minister without Portfolio in the Office of the Prime Minister. He was also the main spokesman for Transport, Resources and Oil Exploration, including the Malta Maritime Authority and Malta International Airport from 2009 to 2013. Joe Mizzi served as Minister for Transport and Infrastructure for the period March 2013 to June 2017 and became Malta’s Minister for Energy and Water Management in June 2017.
