WF3: Understanding, valuing water, and managing irrigated agriculture in the Nile basin ***ENDED
1:45 PM - 4:00 PM Thu
Compared changes in basin-wide irrigation water demand under a business-as-usual approach and five different water saving approaches. Found that the irrigation development under water saving scenarios led to 20% to 50% less water demand than the business-as-usual scenario.:
Found that drip irrigation applied with conservation agriculture production systems on experimental field plots led to reduction in evaporation and runoff, and increase in percolation and crops yield over plots where drip irrigation was applied with conventional tillage production systems.
