The paper presents the strategic partnership between the NBI and NBD as an example of a mechanism for achieving inclusive water governance in the Nile Basin. It discusses the challenges faced, and lessons learnt from the NBI-NBD partnership, and makes recommendations for meaningful civil society engagement in Nile waters governance.:
The paper used downscaled and bias corrected precipitation, temperature and potential evapotranspiration data from GCMs to study the effect of climate change on groundwater recharge and base flow in Tekeze sub-catchment in Ethiopia. A declining trend in precipitation coupled with rise in evapotranspiration was observed that produced reduction in groundwater recharge and baseflow.
