This paper proposes to make a contribution to strengthening capacity for disaster risk management in Sudan through demonstration of calibration of high-resolution satellite-based rainfall data sets covering the whole of Sudan.:
Using observed and gridded temperature and rainfall datasets for the period 1950-2019 (temperature and 1981-2019 (rainfall), the paper analysed spatial and temporal anomalies and trends, and examined the state of climate in Uganda in 2019 compared to past years in the study period. The study found 2019 to be the warmest year in the study period, and for rainfall in October-December 2019 to have been well above normal, with high Lake Victoria levels.
