Valerie Hogan has almost 40 years of experience serving nonprofit organizations, governments and businesses. She facilitates strategic planning efforts, and provides in-depth assistance focusing on project development, outcome measurement, and process improvement. Ms. Hogan has expertise in a variety of fields including organizational development, service delivery, fundraising, financial management, information technology, training programs, and association management.
Ms. Hogan has been a consultant for the past 20 years, preceded by many years of employment in management positions. Prior to starting her own business, Ms. Hogan was Vice President of a consulting firm that offered strategic management services to nonprofit organizations and small businesses. She also has an extensive nonprofit management background including former positions as Executive Director of the Illinois Alliance for Aging, General Manager of Childs Play Touring Theatre, and Assistant Regional Director of an international environmental organization.
Ms. Hogan has a strong data processing background. She has identified functional requirements, evaluated software, implemented computer systems and provided user training. Ms. Hogan served as Vice President of Operations for a start-up software company and spent four years as a Management Systems Specialist for the City of Chicago’s Office of Budget and Management.
Ms. Hogan has formerly served as Vice President of the Star Prairie Land Preservation Trust, and served on the Membership Committee for the Wisconsin Nonprofits Association. As former President of the Association of Consultants to Nonprofits, she provided professional development, marketing opportunities and collegiality to more than 100 consultants in the Chicago area. Ms. Hogan has also served on United Way’s Community Impact Panel, which was responsible for reviewing applications, conducting site visits and making funding recommendations.
She has also worked with the Department of Natural Resources as a volunteer tracker (monitoring wolf populations) and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service conducting waterfowl counts.
