Matthew represents employers with respect to all aspects of labour & employment law, He regularly advises employers on a broad range of workplace issues, such as hiring practices, employee training, termination-related liability, union avoidance, and corporate transformation. He is a skilled advocate and has argued before all levels of Ontario’s courts, as well as at the Ontario Labour Relations Board, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, and in labour arbitrations.
Matthew has developed expertise in cybersecurity law and has been certified by Osgoode Hall Law School’s Professional Development program on data breach prevention and response. He has acted as a data breach coach for organizations who have been subject to cybersecurity incidents, and has successfully protected these clients from significant financial, legal, and reputational damage.
In addition to advising and representing employers in respect of legal matters, Matthew is a trained and experienced workplace investigator. He has conducted numerous investigations into allegations of harassment, sexual harassment, reprisals, and theft.
Matthew is a published author who has written numerous articles on topics relating to workplace law. Matthew has also acted as a professor and is a frequent public speaker on employment law and cybersecurity issues.
