Novel Antithrombotics
7:40 AM - 7:49 AM Sat
Dr. Nimjee started his medical career at Duke University School of Medicine and Graduate School where he completed a combined MD/PhD Program. His graduate work was under Dr. Bruce Sullenger, a renowned RNA biochemist. Dr. Nimjee studied thrombosis and worked on developing novel therapeutic RNA therapies for pathological thrombosis. He remained at Duke, where he specialized in neurosurgery and then followed with an additional fellowship in cerebrovascular/endovascular neurosurgery. During that time, he completed a post-doctoral program focused on developing an RNA aptamer targeting Von Willebrand Factor.
Dr. Nimjee was recruited to The Ohio State University after fellowship, where in addition to his clinical responsibilities and leadership as the Surgical Director of the Comprehensive Stroke Center, he leads an NIH-Funded program studying pathological thrombosis, with the main thrust of his lab focused on developing novel treatments for acute ischemic stroke.
