Maren Hirschi, LCSW, is an Associate Professor of Family Life and Human Development at Southern Utah University.  She earned her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Utah in 2008. In addition to teaching, she has practiced and continues to practice social work in a variety of settings and with a variety of populations all of which include traumatized people.  She spent 6 1/2 years working in a rural emergency department evaluating individuals experiencing suicidal ideations.  Maren's favorite partner in social work is a horse; she wishes she could share an office with one. Maren has 5 kids (including her son-in-law), one beautiful grandbaby, a giant dog named Jasper, and enjoys traveling anywhere (but especially to the ocean) and any kind of outdoor adventure that does not involve heights.
