Saba Nafees has been a passionate Red Raider since her undergraduate days and is now a PhD candidate studying mathematical biology. As an undergraduate, she conducted research through the TTU Howard Hughes Medical Institute Program (now known as CISER). Throughout her time as a Red Raider, she founded multiple student organizations, including the first Define American college chapter, worked to increase student entrepreneurship efforts and resources, and served as an elected Student Government officer. She currently has a startup that aims to help Tibetan refugees in India and Nepal. She has been a strong advocate for immigration reform, speaking at the TEDx stage, appearing on live national tv, and sharing her story nationwide. Her immigration journey has been documented in an award winning PBS documentary, Dream With Me. After defending her PhD this year, she plans to join Chan Zuckerberg Biohub in San Francisco as a Data Scientist.
