Juli Burden is the Program Director of the Hawai‘i Agrivoltaic Research and Demonstration Center at the Hawai‘i Agriculture Research Center (HARC) in Mililani. Since 2020, she has led multi-year research on co-locating solar energy and agriculture, working with industry partners, universities, and farmers to evaluate crop performance and economic viability under photovoltaic systems. The project’s work spans over 30 crop trials, from native plants like māmaki to high-value specialty crops such as strawberries, helping prepare Hawai‘i’s agricultural community for dual-use farming. Juli holds an M.S. in Tropical Plant and Soil Sciences and is passionate about building resilient, efficient food systems for Hawai‘i.
