Peter Koonce, P.E. is a nationally recognized transportation engineer known for aligning transportation policy with engineering practice to improve multimodal safety and efficiency. With over 25 years of experience, he has worked in Portland for most of his career. Peter’s leadership extends to national engineering standards and guidance: he is a past member of the Executive Committee and a current member of the Bicycle Technical Committee of the NCUTD. In 2024, he was elected to the International Board of Direction for the Institute of Transportation Engineers, where he is currently serving a three year term. A dedicated advocate for professional advancement, Peter is actively involved with NACTO and the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals, consistently contributing to the evolution of the field of transportation engineering to support healthier communities.
