Jerry Mallicoat serves as LGBTQ Health Initiatives Manager for Public Health – Dayton & Montgomery County in Dayton, Ohio. He also is a co-founding board member and chair of Rainbow Elder Care of Greater Dayton, a 501(c) 3 non-profit to help address the needs of LGBTQ older adults in the greater Dayton area – a continuation of his 35-year history of activism and advocacy to advance LGBTQ equality throughout the state of Ohio. Jerry earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from The Ohio State University, and he holds an executive master’s degree in Healthcare Management from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. Jerry has had a 30-year healthcare career in public affairs and marketing with such organizations as The Cleveland Clinic Health System, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, ProMedica Health Systems, and the Alzheimer’s Association. In 2019, Jerry was named as a trailblazer and change maker in advocacy for older LGBTQ adults in the NBC News Out 50 Stonewall Celebration. He regularly speaks to and conducts various LGBTQ cultural competence/humility education with organizations, universities, and faith communities. Jerry also serves on the Ohio HIV Modernization Movement Task Force to advocate for updating the state’s outdated HIV criminalization law. He and his husband John have been together for 19 years, and they adore spoiling their Jack Russell Terrier named Rosie (aka Her Royal Highness Rosie).
