Aging LGBT+ Elders and Mental Health: Cultural Humility and Practice Considerations

Sydney graduated with a Bachelor's in Social Work in 2015 from the University of Findlay and in 2017 with a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Toledo. She is a licensed social worker in the state of Ohio who works with adults living with HIV/ AIDS through the Ryan White grant-funded program located in urban Toledo. She was originally hired as a medical case manager and did this work for 2.5 years before transitioning into a full-time therapy role for the program. She has presented at national and regional conferences on topics such as LGBT+ needs, HIV/ AIDS, and addiction. She currently instructs a series of classes at the University of Findlay that provides an overview of drugs, substance abuse disorders, treatment, and ethics to undergraduates students.
