Marie holds a Ph.D. in neuroscience and is a fourth-year medical student at Boonshoft Medical School at Wright State University in Dayton. Marie also earned a master’s degree in philosophy in neuroscience from the University of St. Andrews in the United Kingdom, and a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience and behavioral biology from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Marie founded Boonshoft Pride, an LGBTQ+ organization for medical students at Wright State, and helped develop curricula on LGBTQ health care for Boonshoft Medical School. She also is a member of the Public Health LGBTQ Community Health Alliance. She has conducted various research, including co-leading the Thrive with Pride LGBTQ Aging Survey in collaboration with community organizations and other professionals in the Dayton area. Marie has made numerous professional presentations on LGBTQ+ identity and cultural competence and received several awards for her work.
