Sean joined Smith & Howard in 1993 and is partner in charge of the Assurance Services group. He provides advisory, audit, review and other assurance services for privately-held businesses and nonprofit organizations. Sean leads the firm's nonprofit practice and is in charge of the firm’s quality control process and its periodic peer review.
Sean is called on to present to many for-profit and nonprofit businesses, lenders and other professional service providers. He has both served on and moderated numerous nonprofit panels, has presented on the effects of healthcare reform on the nonprofit industry, presented at Smith & Howard’s Blueprint for Understanding Contractors workshop to construction companies and commercial lenders, and has presented on several complex accounting principles to various audiences.
Sean graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.B.A. in Accounting. He is actively involved as a multi-year member of various committees at Dunwoody United Methodist Church. Sean was selected to chair the Strategic Planning Task Force for Dunwoody United Methodist Church in developing the church’s five year strategic plan. Additionally, Sean is a delegate to the Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church out of the Atlanta/Roswell district and further serves the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church as the Chair of the Council on Finance and Administration where he and the organization’s Treasurer oversee the annual budget and financial reporting process for the Conference. He also serves on the Finance Committee for the Wesleyan School, a private K-12 college preparatory school.
