Dr. Nathan Esplin began a career in medicine through wilderness and rural EMS in Southern Utah. Before attending medical school, he volunteered with a rural county ambulance service. He served with a county Sheriff's Office for 9 years, providing remote and backcountry search and rescue and EMS services. He attended the University of Central Florida College of Medicine, earning a medical degree in 2018. Following medical school, Dr. Esplin completed a residency in Neurosurgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, with a primary focus on trauma and spine surgery, as well as additional training in the surgical management of chronic pain.
