The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), Office of Justice Services (OJS), Indian Highway Safety Program (IHSP) plays a pivotal role in providing grant opportunities to federally recognized tribes across the United States related to Traffic Safety. This panel discussion will feature the IHSP Program Staff, who will present on the Law Enforcement and Occupant Protection grant opportunities available to these tribes. Select Tribal grantees of the program who have been awarded and successfully implemented the grant program will be invited to sit on the panel. Tribal grantees will share their firsthand experience in Traffic Safety and occupant protection along with the impact of the grant in their Tribal communities and how it has enhanced their law enforcement programs. Furthermore, the panel will actively engage with attendees to gather insights and perspectives on traffic issues within their respective reservations. These viewpoints will be documented and utilized in future data collection efforts to inform data-driven strategies aimed at addressing traffic challenges in Indian Country.
