Anthony Summers has been a public safety professional for over twenty-seven years. He began his career in public safety as a Junior Volunteer Firefighter with the Port Allen Volunteer Fire Department in 1994. At that time, Anthony started to function telecommunicator for the Port Allen Fire Department and all the fire departments within West Baton Rouge Parish. At that time, During a structure fire in the City of Port Allen, the employed firefighter would then be replaced by a trained Volunteer or junior volunteer to cover dispatch. Anthony continued to volunteer in this role until he graduated high school in 1996. He then became a full volunteer and is now a life member of the Port Allen Volunteer Fire Department.
Anthony eventually became a full member of the Port Allen Fire Department and began volunteering with the Office of Emergency Preparedness and 9-1-1. As a result, he was hired as a full-time parish employee and continues to work with all parish stakeholders. In 2008, he became the Assistant Director of the West Baton Rouge Parish Office of Homeland Security, Emergency Preparedness, and 9-1-1.
In this capacity, his responsibilities include assisting in the management of the parish 9-1-1 center. Consequently, Anthony also assists with Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness activities, including planning and operations for the Parish Emergency Operations Center.
Anthony is also experienced in information technology and geographic information systems. Additionally, he holds various public safety certifications, including the Certified Emergency Manager and Emergency Number Professional certifications.
